| theory 1. Diamond is just a term given to powerful gems and your rank is determined by your ability to fight right after being created. Theory 2. All based off the hardness scale ie: diamonds on top, ambers/pearls on bottom. what are your theories. What are your guys theory's on this? or what would you like me to elaborate on? |

| I'm more inclined to go with theory two - going on literal diamond and hardness and all that.
I don't really think Rose Quartz is Rose Quartz. I don't think that's her real name. Her gem certainly doesn't look ANYTHING like a rose quartz. Her hair does, but her gem does not. Rose quartz is a milky, light pink coloured stone. Hers (and Steven's) is a rich, deep pink, like that of what would be a pink diamond or a pink sapphire. Plus, Steven is regarded as very important, like royalty status. As was Rose.
I think Yellow Diamond possesses a Yellow Diamond and is actually the lowest ranking of diamond. Yellow is like the crappiest diamond you could possibly get in the real world - it's the lowest rank. Then I'd say Blue Diamond is a step above, with White Diamond being the highest rank. I think Rose was on par with White Diamond, but that's to be seen. |

| My theory is that rank is based on preciousness. Diamonds (if a race), Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, and sometimes high-quality Pearls (defined as a Pearl that is white and completely spherical; our Pearl is not a high-quality Pearl) are the master races in Homeworld Gem Society.
I haven't decided if Diamonds are a title of power, or a species of their own, but I lean heavily towards the former, as, with the Rose Diamond theory in mind, there is more of a precedent towards the former.
Diamonds, regardless if it's a species or a rank, rule over the Gem Empire with their triumvirate. The Diamond Triumvirate is composed of Yellow Diamond, White Diamond, and Blue Diamond. It wasn't always a triumvirate, but it has been one for about 6000 years. |
