I...may not be so fond of this character...discussion

Got a character you're not really fond of in Steven Universe and feel like you can't say aloud? Who is it and why?

I had to think about this for a while.

I'd say the only character who I can't say I like is Jasper. Her actions are unforgivable. While I'm sure that it's possible I could grow to like her if we see another side of her later on, as she is right now I'm very glad she's trapped at the bottom of the sea.

Not going to lie, but I'm not really a fan of Ronaldo. He just...bothers me x.x;

I'm also not a huge fan of Jasper, either. Like you, perhaps that could change if we get to know more about her character later in the series, but for now, nope. Do not like.

Mmmmm the only one I could say for sure I don't like is Onion. And it's really only because he stole Steven's copy machine thingy, and he never says anything. It's like, alright you little cretin what are you plotting?

Forgot about Onion. I'm not tickled by him, either >.>

Ronaldo is a villain I have vague feelings towards. I am scared of him, yet he gives an air of sheer incompetence. They do not exactly contradict, and, in fact, they just make him even scarier for reasons I cannot really explain. The foreshadowing from Garnet's Universe doesn't help. At all.

Onion is literally Satan. I've seen that theory in many places, and yeah, I'm rather inclined to agree. I've agreed since he started to shoot cars at people/sentient rocks.

As for Jasper, I like her. Not as a person, but as a character. She's the right kind of evil and disgusting to allow Lapis to be a sort of hero. I really want to see more of her, honestly.

Yeah, I don't like Jasper, Onion, or Ronaldo either.

Onion is a very problematic character for me. I...I just don't like him...it...er, whatever.

Marty, too. But I wouldn't mind him coming back in a later episode. He'd make a good antagonist for the gems or some of the Beach City residents to punch in the face, frankly.

You know, after this ep...I kind of hate Peridot. I understand that she's doing her job and probably she doesn't really think it's wrong (or twisted or you know,just plain sadistic). But Garnet is so right...it should be obvious, how wrong it is. So after Keeping it Together I strongly dislike Peridot.

I was thinking about that too - I mentioned it in the Peridot discussion thread - and Lilcipher made a good point.

So basically not only is Peridot doing her job, she's also desensitised to the Crystal Gems. They're not Gems, they're monsters. Rose's monsters. Traitors. Nothing more than that. I completely agree that what Peridot and Homeworld is doing is wrong (I am still shaken by it all and it's been about 3ish hours for me). But this is why I'm also inclined to like Peridot - she's making such an interesting villain. I mean, I REALLY don't like her that I like her. The writers are doing excellent in portraying a fantastic villain.

I hope that makes sense.

Oh I should clarify: I always dislike the villains, even when I love them, I still want them gone. xD Peridot is a potentially great villain, so is Home World in general. Interesting to watch, intriguing, the whole package...and I still want them crushed because I'm an axious puppy, and even when I understand the bad guys, I can't really like them.

Ewww, I forgot about Marty. He was the worst. I love that Greg stood up to him and called his misogynistic ass out. Poor Vidalia, though. And Sour Cream, too. It must suck to have a dude like him as a dad... If he's even around anymore.

Marty sucks. And while we're on the topic of characters like him, I have to say that I forgot about Kevin from Alone Together. He was a creeper too!
