Lapis Lazuli Discussion

I actually really like Lapis. She's gotta be one of my favourites (at this rate, who isn't? lol). She's just so...powerful, fierce, passionate, stubborn...won't let anything stand in her way. She's hella loyal. She's got a lot of spark. She's got a lot of personality I can relate to.

Yeah, I agree. I like her too. She's good, but has a very negative view of life, kinda like I do.

I like Lapis a whole lot. She's a realistic likable character with a cool design and lots of potential plot-wise. I also get really really excited when I see her.

I also see a lot of potential for terrible things to happen to her, though. She makes mistakes, like any realistic character, but her mistakes worry me because she's doing things and acting in ways that led many anime characters I know of to horrible fates. And this show references anime a lot.

Yeah, she might end up meeting a horrible fate...which'll suck. If anything does happen to her, I know it'll be in the name of Steven, basically. But it'll still suck. Here's to hoping that doesn't happen...

Lots of people hope that Lapis becomes a crystal gem, which I dont see a problem with that since she already wants to protect Steven a lot. So lets hope something good happens to Lapis and not something bad.

I wonder what happened to Lapis when she came to Earth? Why was she slapped onto that mirror for God knows how long?

Peridot says that Lapis is her informant in Cry For Help.

My theory is that Lapis was a spy. Lapis infiltrated the CGs god knows how long ago, but she was poofed and put on the mirror when the CGs found out about Lapis's true affiliation. I mean, a gem with hydrokinesis on the enemy's side while pretending to be on yours?

I don't think the CGs, sans Steven, would trust Lapis enough for Lapis to join if my theory is correct. It would provide a really nice conflict, however.

hmmm, i feel like it's a possibility for lapis to join the crystal gems; she's clearly not super on board with what peridot and jasper are doing. however, she does still value homeworld as her home, you know, so there's still some ties there that i think may complicate the whole thing.

as a whole, i think lapis' storyline is gonna be a little complicated. i feel like, in light of the very likely event (basically confirmed) that rose quartz was pink diamond, there seems to be (from chille tid "let me do this for you, steven!!") some residual or idealized feelings.

i definitely agree with you, windoku. i don't believe the cgs would trust her, either.

i feel like it's a nice tension we've got here with lapis' wavering loyalty between homeworld and steven, the gems on either side of the spectrum keeping her firmly stuck where she is. i love lapis, you guys. i want more of her (and amethyst)!!
